Beer combines Thai flavours
Noah Kettong has always dreamed of running his own restaurant.
It became a reality in June 2020 when The Other One Thai Kitchen opened its doors in Kluuvi Shopping Centre.
The restaurant, which focuses on a step up in Thai cuisine, specialises in tap beers that are carefully selected for their flavours.
Noah Kettong was familiar with Barfix’s tap solutions from many bars in Helsinki.
Almost invariably, if there were stylish and personal taps on the counter, Barfix was behind them.
– I decided that if I ever opened a restaurant, I wanted to invest in taps too.
In addition to aesthetics, the restaurateur believes that decent, good-looking taps also increase beer sales.
When you invest in the tap and the beers are on the front counter in front of the customer’s eyes, they are more likely to choose the tap product than the bottled beer in the cupboard.
At The Other One, we chose copper taps because they matched the brass colours of the restaurant.
– The taps blend in with the décor and accentuate the beers.
Customers have noticed this too.
Almost everyone has commented on the stylish tap the first time they visit the restaurant.
The six taps feature classic beers instead of Thai beers.
This is because Thai beers are not found in the kege.
Another argument in Barfix’s favour was the possibility of connecting any brewery’s keg to the system.
At most, it requires a change of the right type of vessel fitting.
The 60-seat restaurant’s lunch menu and seasonal menu are changed at regular intervals.
Familiar classics and traditional Thai dishes remain on the menu from season to season.
So what’s the most popular dish?
Pad Thai and a pint of pale lager to go with it.
