Maintenance prolongs service life

Belge bar&bistro, a Belgian beer and club restaurant on two floors, is pleased with the beer tap system it acquired ten years ago.
It has served well in the street-level bar, the second-floor bistro and the library bar.
Of course, the system has been regularly renewed and maintained.
The most recent change was made this spring.
Previously, the Belge had two tank rooms and a ton of tanks.
When the ton tanks were phased out, the tank rooms became too big.
Fortunately, a smaller warehouse was found nearby, where the new tanks and the Barfix system were moved.
Once the plan was ready, Barfix completed the changeover in a day.

Some taps are dispensers and some are hand-operated.
As the product order is identical at each workstation, it makes work easier, even if the shift is at any of the three points in the restaurant.
“Now we have less waste, and the quality of the beer stays good even during the high season,” says restaurant manager Kati Halonen, adding that shorter lines, smaller tanks and a closer warehouse also make operations more convenient.
Veijo Mäkinen, sales manager at Barfix, wanted to keep the changeover interval of the big tanks but maintain the freshness of the beer, and the big tank was replaced by a smaller tank and two lines.
“For us, this change was a big deal.
We don’t have to change the tank as often when the product runs out, but only when all the tanks that are closed are gone,” Halonen continues.
He praises Barfix’s ability to react quickly to customer problems and provide solutions.
Water also comes from the tap in Belge.
In the bistro, one of the taps is normal and the other carbonated.

Continuous contract

Belgium and Barfix have had a service agreement for years. This means that Barfix independently washes and maintains the taps every three weeks. At the same time, a service technician inspects the entire line and ensures that it is in perfect working order until the next service. For Halonen, the service contract is an essential part of the operation. “We find out in good time if there is a budding problem somewhere. That way we never have any major surprises and my money stays safe.” Long-term cooperation also ensures mutual trust. Halonen does not have to question Barfix’s decisions and Barfix can solve the customer’s problems in advance, knowing the turnover and the number of visitors. There are almost 40 taps in Belge. The street-level bar is a great place to enjoy the pulse of the city and Belgian beers, and has the widest selection of beers in the restaurant. The smaller selection in the bistro and library bar is based on the street-level offer. Most of the beers and ciders stay in place year after year, but a few taps rotate guest stars, changing with the season and the mood.
